Important Business Updates

Welcome to our small group newsletter that features important updates related to small group.

Returning to workplaces safely

Vaccine availability continues to improve. This means strategic COVID-19 testing will remain essential for employers to allow people to return to workplaces safely. CVS Caremark® looked at the relationship between diagnostic testing and infection control in different workplace scenarios. They did this by using model simulations of realistic conditions and variables. The results are published in its latest white paper, “Returning to workplaces safely.” Read the full report here.

We appreciate you

Our brokers mean a lot to us. We value your feedback. Recently, Harry Renta, CEO of Kingdom Benefit Group, in Orlando, FL, shared his thoughts about working with us. We wanted to share his note with you.

“Aetna is one of those carriers that stand out from the rest as a trusted brand. We know this to be true based off the feedback we receive from our clients who have opted to enroll their group in Aetna, and once they do, most always renew.

“Aetna’s national network has been an added benefit to our clients who have employees in various states. The zero-deductible plan is another option our clients appreciate Aetna including in their plan designs. Most of our groups, when asked about employee feedback, will tell us they have ‘no complaints.’ Employees are happy with the plans they are enrolled in, which most group’s take into consideration when renewing.”

PCORI calculator update

Our updated PCORI calculator can help your clients figure out their PCORI fee. It can also determine the average number of lives covered under an applicable self-insured health plan for a plan year.

Under the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) final rule, issuers and plan sponsors are responsible for paying the PCORI fee. This is treated like an excise tax by the IRS. A federal excise tax return (Form 720) must be filed. This excise tax return reports liability for the fee. It must be filed by July 31 of the calendar year immediately following the last day of the plan year.

For more help, you can access the PCORI calculator on ProducerWorld. You will need to go under the ‘Resources’ tab.

Member Wellness Corner: Stress in the workplace

For many of us, work-related stress has only increased over the past year. As we enter a new phase of the pandemic, it’s a good time to remind your clients about the importance of reducing stress, especially at work. Mindfulness is one effective way to do that. We asked some top executives to share how they incorporate mindfulness into their day. Get their tips here.
